At the council store in Seattle. You’ll need to purchase a tan shirt (short sleeve is recommended and available with male/female styling), green pants (switchbacks, which also can be shorts, are the most cost effective), BSA socks , a Cheif Seattle Patch and World Organization of Scouting insignia (purple flour de lis).   Shoulder loops, Neckerchief, and Troop numbers. If your child is crossing over from Webelos and wore the tan shirt and green pants, you are likely ready to go!

Remember, size up as the kids grow FAST, and if you can’t sew, our adult leaders can help

Typical Weekend trip Gear:

Suggest a REI Half dome 2 person tents (2 scouts per tent) for Scout use on our weekend trips.

  1. Personal tent (only needed if a scout prefers to be solo in a tent)
  2. Backpack or duffle bag for transporting gear (recommended 50-70L)
  3. Sleeping bag – 20 degree (adding a fleece blanket can help on winter trips)
  4. Sleeping pad – inflatable and / or foam (use both for winter trips)
  5. Pillow (if desired)
  6. Day Pack (smaller bag for during daytime activities)
  7. Mess Kit with utensils and cup
  8. Scout Handbook
  9. Card/board Games, football, soccer ball, etc
  10. BSA Ten Essentials:
    1. Refillable water bottle
    2. Rain Coat or poncho (Rain pants recommended)
    3. Compass + map
    4. Folding pocket knife (2-3″ blade, can be carried after earning Totin’ chip)
    5. Personal first aid kit
    6. Extra Clothing (fleece or puffy coat)
    7. Headlamp or flashlight
    8. Hat and sunscreen for sun protection
    9. Matches / fire starter (can be carried after earning Firem’n Chip)
    10. Trail food (Should be stored in trailer at night to avoid critters)
